Mimaland

Hye U Ollz…

First of all, the boy in the pic is not me...:D Who was born or grew up in 80s must remember the water theme park that famous in Malaysia in late 70s and 80s, Mimaland. Many of the younger generation now maybe the first time heard about Mimaland but try ask your parent, of course they still remember (if they remember). It was started build in 1971 and opened to the public in 1975.The name “Mimaland” was unique and its actually short form of “Malaysia In Miniature Land”. It’s located at hilly area in Ulu Gombak, Selangor not far from Kuala Lumpur. One of the attraction at Mimaland is the prehistoric dinosaur theme park that have big dinosaurs replica.

In 1984 Mimaland introduced another new attraction that was the swimming pool which to be the largest in Southeast Asia at that time. Also the big and high water slides that favored by many visitors.

Besides that, Mimaland also has lakes that suitable for cruises/fishing, "giant maze" area and jungle tracking activities. In other words, Mimaland was popular premier outing destination for families.

In  January 1993, an accident happened that resulted in the death of a 27-year-old Singaporean. Unfortunately, the incident that shocked the public has forced the Mimaland to close for a while. In May 1994, there was also damage to the walls of the some pools that caused minor landslides that causing and made muddy water entered into the pool. Once again, the area is closed to the public. After that, Mimalad was closed
and became a neglected area until now.
